I first heard about the ICC sticker for helmets from Dou Maxwell (not sure of his real name), NVP of ARMAS, when I attended an elimination for bikini open. After that, I did some research until I found a Facebook group for motorcycle riders or motorista, the ARMAS (Alliance of Road-Users and Motorcycle Advocate Society)
Here’s an update on the implementation of ICC stickers for helmets with permission to repost from sir Rod Cruz, National President of ARMAS.
ABOUT THE ICC STICKER
Yesterday, I decided to call up ARMAS NSG Sean Dela Vega Ebue if he has any plans for the day and if he is available… Where to go? We decided to go to DTI-BPS along Buendia Makati to see how the process of getting an ICC Sticker for my helmet.
Having three (3) helmets (Zeus, LS2 and MRC) mabuti na lang ang dala ko ng araw na yun ay ang aking MRC kasi yun dalawa may ICC sticker na nung nabili ko at para malaman ko na din ang proseso ng pagkuha nito kasi we know for a fact that come August 1, 2012
RA 10025RA10054 (Mandatory Helmet Act of 2010) will be implemented.
Exactly 10:30AM when we arrived at DTI-BPS not knowing that there was an on going public hearing for the ICC sticker implementation we sneak in to hear the said public consultation and found out the following:
DTI has recorded about 600,000+++ helmets that has been issued stickers. More than 3.6 million helmets to go for each rider out on the streets and another good number for their passengers…
A.R.M.A.S. ng MOTORISTA
- Implementation will start on August 1, 2012. All helmets that do not have ICC stickers will be considered substandard.
- P1500,00 – Penalty for motorcycle rider who will wear substandard helmet.
- P100 – Payment for registration if the helmet passes the standards of DTI
- P1.25 – Payment for ICC sticker
Maybe this time, I won’t be seeing helmets locked in their bikes while parked. The sticker might be gone when they come back
